Our cruise on the Crown princess.
April
Pros: The usual great service, good food, The convenience of using their medallion device. I also have to say their entertainment was very good.
Cons: Very disorganized disembarkation
Recommended: Yes
The disembarkation was chaotic. My understanding is that they did not have enough longshoreman to remove the baggage from the ship to the pure area, which caused a back up. I don’t think this is necessarily princesses’s fault, but getting off was cumbersome to say the least. We were almost an hour late from the time we were supposed to get off. My other complaint is one day while waiting in line at the guest services desk it took an hour. There weren’t that many people in line but I didn’t think princess did a very good job of providing enough people to effectively expedite this process. At one point there were six people behind the desk, but it didn’t seem like that many were really working that hard.there was one guy who literally took agent arguing about something. He took up so much time and the desk agent should’ve simply gotten a supervisor to take care of this guy’s problem as he seems to be repeating it over and over and enabling him to take care of other people.

50 year anniversary cruise
February
Pros: Saw some good shows and attended some good excursions
Cons: Food selection got real old after 16 days
Recommended: No
Our first excursion was cancelled due to have to travel out of the way to avoid a storm, Should have had some sort of contingency for this. There wasn't enough variety to the complimentary food menus including the buffet. The meals really got to the point where we didn't even want to go eat and had to pay extra for a better selection and quality of food.

Alaska on the Crown!
June
Pros: Staff, food, itinerary, entertainment
Cons: Nothing
Recommended: Yes
First let me say that the Medallion system is amazing! Your cabin door is unlocked as you approach it, you don’t have to swipe a card (the medallion displays your name as you approach a register), and it is completely accurate. The staff: there are not enough words to express the level of care that the staff display to guests. Everyone from the maintenance team to the waiters to the officers are personable and caring. The ship is amazing, well decorated and easy to navigate. The itinerary…perfect! 10 days with the best ports!!!

From Los Angeles to Hawaii and return
December
Pros: The Crown Princess looked ship shape and well cared for with a friendly crew and excellent food.
Cons: The organization for attending the main meal was disorganized with long lines.
Recommended: Yes
The seas were calm and the entertainment extremely good but needed more variety as it consisted of all singing. The ship could have used more crew as they were short staffed. New beds were badly needed as I think mine came from the first sailing of the ship back in 2000.. I had to have mine replaced at mid-night to allow me to sleep the night away. Tiki Dave and the other presenter were excellent and only wish there were more. Tiki Dave and wife were involved in many excellent activities. Put them on all of your ships.

Crown Princess to Alaska
August
Pros: Crown Princess was a lovely ship. comfortable rooms and nice public areas. There were lots of activities to do on Sea Days. lo
Cons: I read that the Crown Princess engine was having trouble and that affected our time at ports.
Recommended: Yes
Although we had a great time with friendly, helpful staff, excellent food, and smooth sailing, we were very disappointed to have Ketchikan removed from our itinerary. We saw only one glacier in Glacier Bay -Lamplugh. The moonlight visit to Victoria Island was nice but not as exciting as a daytime look at the Butchart Garden. The ten of us on a family vacation really enjoyed ourselves, though. The Medallions were convenient to use even though it took a bit of time and frustration to sign into the app prior to the cruise.

January
Pros: Food is incredible, the beds were so comfortable and large, mini suite had a lot of room, service was great and quick. Entertainment was good.
Cons: Pool water was 76. To cold everyday.

The Crown is an older midsize ship but I think she is in wonderful shape. She has been takin very good care of. The decor is classic and beautiful. I really liked using the Medallion and the app to find my ship mates.

Fun time
November
Pros: Had to utilize the medical center at 5AM, staff was prompt and professional. Our car in steward heard the call go out and later told us his thought was, “those are my people” and asked every time he saw us how things were going.
Cons: Older ship much in the need of some TLC, ie wood railing needs sanding and revarnishing and some elevators needs refurbishing
Recommended: Yes
Can’t say enough on how well we were treated when I had to call for help for my husband. Staff was wonderful, as was the might manager who stayed with me until after we were in the medical center. Tests and following ups were very thorough.

Crown Princess 10 night cruise
November
Pros: Cleanliness, service, room service
Cons: Excursion line up process had no direction
Recommended: Yes
We loved our trip. Food was good. Room service was extremely quick. Very clean ship. Service was wonderful. Some activities had standing room only, like comedy shows. We did an excursion at each stop, bought through Princess prior to sailing. At some ports there were staff at exiting (in their cute white uniforms), but we were sent the wrong direction a few times. No one on the ship or at the exit knew if we should go left or right. At some ports the excursion people were right there. However, if they were not you were on your own to find them. You must exit the ship early or you could miss your transport. This cost us time at each port, thus the 4 out of 5 rating.

British Isles Cruise 2019
July
Pros: Great staff, well-organized excursions, plenty of entertainment, beautiful ship!
Cons: I didn't like the way we were pressured to sign up for "free" events (facials, champagne, spa treatments) which turned out to be sales pitches for beauty products, jewelry, artwork, etc.
Recommended: Yes
Congratulations to Princess for not only maintaining the high quality we have come to expect from them, but in many cases surpassing our expectations. We have sailed with Princess several times previously and have always been impressed by the beauty and variety of the lounges, the attentiveness of the staff in both cabin upkeep and in the dining rooms, and the variety of the dining choices. I was pleased to see that the Crown (which I had sailed on in its inaugural year) has been beautifully maintained and shows little sign of age. Yes, it's a huge ship, with plenty of guests onboard, but the staff has figured out how to organize shore excursions so it's orderly and convenient. The logistics were impeccable. The other improvement I noticed was in the entertainment. Not only were there numerous production shows featuring talented dancers and an 8 piece band, but local talent was brought onboard (an opera singer, step dancers, incredible ventriloquist, and other musicians who appeared in the piazza and in the lounges non-stop). It was easy to find something fun to do at all times.

Great Cruise!
June
Pros: Comfy beds, good size rooms, big 'enough' ship, friendly staff
Cons: Elderly crowd, entertainment choices
Recommended: Yes
Overall the cruise was amazing. I cruise for the locations or ports, not the other stuff. The ports on this cruise were fantastic. The ship itself was in good shape, the staff was so friendly, he food was decent (I did the buffet for every meal and was happy with it!), and the upgraded mattresses were super comfortable. My only "issues" were that I'm in my 30's and the average age on this cruise was probably around 60-70 years old. But again, it's a long cruise and who can afford to take their family on something like this? Just expect things to move a little bit slower with that type of crowd. The entertainment seemed to gear their activities towards that crowd - example - bingo. I wish there were more entertainment activities on board, but then again, I'm going on a cruise for the ports. Overall, a great cruise to choose!

Disembarking for Shore Excursions
May
Pros: We got off the ship.
Cons: Long slow lines
Recommended: Yes
The long waits and lines in the Princess Theater was something that we had not experienced on other Princess cruises. Talking to other guests they were not happy either. By the time we reached Invergordon the disembarking was much faster. We thought Princess was cheap charging 16.00 for the bus into town. We took the bus into town on the second day in Dublin. Last year we were on the Crown in Barcelona and the buses into town were free. The cruise was fun. We will be back.

A grand old dame
December
Pros: Elegant appointments, good food, good service
Cons: 1980s internet, ship shoes some wear
Recommended: Yes
We love the Crown Princess, but she's showing her age. She needs an update, especially to the Internet service, which is all but useless. After a frustrating hour during which I managed to download some email headers (though not the email content) I gave up. Then it took me ten minutes to log out! The ship is lovely, elegant and comfortable, but there are definitely worn areas showing. My only other complaint was the service in the Crown Grill. The servers seemed to be constantly moving about, certainly not lazy, but the food arrived warm, not hot. It seemed disorganized. The regular dining room service was great, and all the staff throughout the ship were friendly and helpful.

November
Pros: Very easy to get everywhere on board, good shopping, nice dining options
Cons: The ship is getting older and may be looking a bit tired
Recommended: Yes
This was our third cruise on the Crown Princess. It being an older ship, it is maintained really well. There is only one complaint we would have and that is the bed. Having been on other Princess ships with the new bedding and mattresses, we missed having the upgrade on the Crown. However, we enjoy the size and décor of this ship. We would definitely sail on her again with no hesitation.

Pros: Staff- Allthe staff on the Crown Princess were polite and very helpful. Specialty restaurant were great with excellent food and service.
Cons: Ship is showing its age and could us a refurbishing. Several areas of the ship carpet is worn and in need of replacement and or a deep cleaning due to stains. Seats in the dining rooms, buffets and Princess Theater are deeply stained, show excessive wear and should be replaced.
Recommended: Yes
Overall a very good trip with great service by all the ships staff. Food was good to excellent depending on the dining hall, buffet or speciality restaurant you went to. The bed in the Mini Suite, Club Class, was the best I've ever slept in and had no problem sleeping on this trip. Recommend for others to take this cruise and take the shore excursions that show the seasonal change of the fall foliage, beautiful especially in Canada and Bar Harbor.

October
Pros: staff; cabin; restaurants; lounges; entertainment; shop sales staff; 20th anniversary celebration
Cons: air flow in cabin last night; bar service first two nights; plumbing during disembarkation; Sabatini's menu
Recommended: Yes
This was the best cruise we've had with Princess. The dining, cabin, service desk, and shop staff were all excellent!!! The jewelry and art staff had great people skills and were patient and accommodating. The art presentations and auctions were outstanding; our art experiences were among the highlights of the cruise. The tour options were great and we easily managed a few sites on our own. The entertainment and music were wonderful. We saw the productions the first half of the cruise and, to avoid the crazy stress of getting seats in the theater and Explorer's lounge, we shifted to the lounges for the second half. The musicians was very enjoyable. We have four negative comments: (1) The bar staff in both the Crooners and Wheelhouse were not taking orders or serving drinks the first night or the beginning of the second night. They were clearing glasses when patrons left but they totally ignored anyone walking in and were clearly not taking orders. Patrons had to go to the bar to order drinks. If this expectation was set, frustration could have been avoided; (2) The air was not working in our cabin the last night on the ship; (3) During the disembarkation process, the bathrooms were closed due to plumbing problems. At the same time, my husband got sick. He turned grey, was lightheaded and dizzy, and walking off the ship was difficult. We agreed to avoid calling for help hoping that the fresh air would help him make it to the terminal restrooms; (4) We were very disappointed with the Sabatini's menu and didn't eat there. Despite the negative comments, again, this was a great vacation and we look forward to our next Princess cruise.

Mixed emotions
September
Pros: easy and organized embarkation/disembarkation, immaculate stateroom, outstanding food (and lots of choices)in the dining room, room service and International Cafe
Cons: abrasive Shore Tour employee (corrected by his manager), buffet food only fair, not a lot of entertainment/activities on at-sea days or afternoons after excursions
Recommended: Yes
I would like to award 3.5 stars. I can easily deal with only fair buffet food, but I will not accept rudeness from anyone in the hospitality industry. Above con discussing shore tour employee was a Princess employee -- the tour operators, employees of the tour companies, were fantastic! Would have liked more entertainment in the mornings and afternoons. I didn't come to watch a lot of movies --- we can do that anywhere--- we prefer more lectures and fun things. For example, there was Wii bowling, but only for 30 minutes, so each player only bowled 5 frames. I got the feeling that Princess was heavy on those activities that did not require staff involvement (eg movies), as perhaps a cost-cutting measure. Dining room staff (the same waiters each night in Anytime Dining) did not seem to have their act together; guests had to request things over and over again. The food, however, was very very good, much better than Royal Caribbean; some nights it was hard to narrow down the choices!

Pros: Pretty much the same as other Princess cruises. Always great.
Cons: The parties for frequent cruisers are always scheduled too close to our dinner time.

Where there used to be separate nights for the better main entrees, this time they had halibut, prawns and lobster all on the same night. We didn't get our invite to wine tasting until that afternoon after it was already over. Because 86% of passengers were new to cruising, or new to Princess we were in the top 40 frequent cruisers so we were invited to the party where all the good food is served.

Pros: Great Staff/Food
Cons: Entertainment

We had a great cruise (again) on the Crown Princess. Food was great and the staff was friendly and efficient. We hardly ever saw our room steward but our room was always clean and well stocked. He accommodated our requests quickly and with a smile. The ship could use a little care (showing a little wear) but it didn't take away from our cruise at all. Everything was clean. We just went for the value and ease of the Mexican Riviera and weren't sure we would even go ashore. The ports turned out to be a lot of fun. I would highly recommend Crown Grill and Sabatini's for a great dinner with excellent service. We would definitely do this cruise again.

December
Pros: Exemplarary staff and service in both the lounges and eateries
Cons: The quality of the food in the dinning rooms and the Horizon cafe continues to decline. I understand they are trying to economize, but the meats, in particular, were simply much more poorer than ever before
Recommended: Yes
Princess is a nice line to cruise, and the Crown Princess, IMHO, one of their better ships. I really have only 1 negative, and that's the food over all, and the food in the Crown restaurant in particular. Steaks are cooked well, but so under seasoned that they tend to taste 'gamey' for lack of a better word

Alaska Cruise
September
Pros: Ship was big enough to handle its large capacity. The crew were friendly, with the exceptions of 1-2 and interested in making sure you were satisfied.
Cons: On Thursday, which was a sailing day, they did not have enough activities planned, except for those involving 'sales pitches'. A couple of times the activities indicated on the Princess Patter were not conducted without explanation.
Recommended: Yes
There was not enough time in port, if you had planned an excursion. One example was our excursion in Ketchikan took the entire port time and we did not get to visit the city or its shops at all.

Wonderul time on Alaskan cruise
September
Pros: See multiple areas of Alaska while being pampered onboard
Cons: Would like more time in some ports
Recommended: Yes
This was a great cruise. The Crown Princess is a great ship and it has plenty of entertainment and activities for the time at sea. There are a lot of excursions to choose from in the different ports. I enjoyed all of mine. The time at the Ketchikan and Victoria ports was too short, not to mention that the Victoria port was at night. I would have preferred to skip the Victoria port to have more time in Ketchikan.

Alaska Cruise
September
Pros: Excellent and attentive staff. Great food.
Cons: Lotus Spa in need of repairs. Some fitness equipment not fully functional.
Recommended: Yes
Lotus Spa was a disappointment. On first visit with wife we discovered that the two special showers did not function. One was being worked on by a repairman at the time of our visit but still did not function properly after his work. Couples spa was very under heated on a solo visit by my wife. The men's separate dry sauna did not function properly on first visit. Not heated at all. Seating area for changing was very inadequate. Of the five or so treadmills that I used, only one had a functioning heart rate monitor. When we asked for a refund for the Lotus Spa it was not handled very well. The spa manager (Britt) seemed accusatory and questioned our motivations in an unpleasant manner. Food in all locations was very good. Wait staff was superb. Boarding and disembarkation handled very well. Skagway should be skipped with more time in Victoria. We arrived after 7 pm at Victoria. Difficult to enjoy a bus tour in the dark.

Great people!
August
Pros: The staff - super helpful! The views - spectacular! The food - good variety at buffet!
Cons: Beds not comfortable! Layout of ship confusing, even with the map (a few wrong turns)
Recommended: Yes
I think there is a strategy to beds that are a bit hard: you don't want to hang out in them too long so you can get out and buy drinks and gamble (but we don't do either). That said - the crew is amazing. Helpful at every turn. They do treat you like you are the most important person on the planet!

A first time cruiser that will be cruising Princess again!
August
Pros: Very attentive from bartenders to servers. They have such great attitudes and wonderful personalities.
Cons: Not enough music in the Piazza. It was one of the last nights and my husband and I were having some drinks. We did not feel like going to a bar. We sat there for 2 hours. That whole time there was no entertainment.
Recommended: Yes
This was mine and my husbands first cruise. It is certain we will be taking another cruise next year. This time we plan on bring the whole family.

WHAT A WONDERFUL TIME!
April
Pros: Clean, beautiful ship, wonderful crew and staff, lovely balcony room
Cons: None that I can really think of except Cruises are pricey and I always eat too much of the wonderful food and gain weight!
Recommended: Yes
We vistied the Mexcian Riviera on the Crown Princess. The Captain was so lovely, he kept us informed of the weather, the sea conditions, the whereabouts of the ship at all times. We went on two excursions - so much fun. AND THE BEST PART!!! THE BEST PART WAS THE EXPEDITED DISEMBARKING. WE WERE OFF THE SHIP AND IN OUR CARS IN UNDER A 1/2 HOUR. LOVED THAT. All fun things on the ship were organized, on time, enjoyable and met all of our expectations. The two guys on Princess Patter were hysterical and I loved the bed I slept in. I did not want to come home at all.

Mexican cruise Feb 28th-March 7th
February
Pros: Excellent service, clean comfortable room, spacious balcony, matre d' graciously allowed us to change from anytime dining to traditional dining
Cons: Difficult before the cruise to discern when early traditional dining begins. On the Alaskan cruise we took, early dining began at 5:15 PM which is why we didn't choose that option for the Mexican cruise, whereas it began at 5:45 on that cruise and we would have chosen the traditional dinning based upon that option
Recommended: Yes
All in all excellent, except it would have been nice to stay in Cabo San Lucas a but longer. Also. although the food was excellent, we wondered why there were no Mexican cuisine options on a cruise to Mexico-

The Steele Family "Decade Cruise"
December
Pros: The ship is beautiful
Cons: Skimpy state/bath rooms, balconies
Recommended: Yes
Paring inches from state/bath rooms to accomadate more passengers was disappointing. Bath shower controls were hard to adjust--needed help from attendant & location of toilet paper holder was very inconvenient. The comedian even remarked on these. Anyone with too many extra pounds could barely move. Some bars were also inconvenient & servers had to go up/down stairs for orders--making a long wait for drinks. As usual, the food was plentiful with tastes for all, especially the breakfast/lunch buffets, but the dinner menu descriptions & presentations, although very nice, were not what expected--got a big plate with lots of empty spaces due to small portions. One incident occured in photograph shop the night before arr. in FLL. Had purchased pictures, given to family at dinner which they took with to maybe get more. We were basically accused of stealing pix, until I finally found receipt for proof of purchase in stateroom. Know the cashier was doing her job, but tact was not one of her assets. Enough negative--all else POSITIVE!! We had a wonderful family "Decade Cruise"--10 to 80!!

Pros: Comfortable ship, The captain, the Fine Arts programs and activities
Cons: Too many people, poor internet

This was an enjoyable trip, but after sailing on a small ship, there were just too many people. The captain was wonderful. He kept everyone well informed with whatever was going on. When he was walking about the ship, he always made time to stop and speak with passengers. The time just flew by for a 29 day trip.

My Alaskan experience
August
Pros: Overall I had a wonderful time. The land tour, the excursions, the stateroom, the staff were excellent!
Cons: Ship/Motorcoach
Recommended: Yes
Since the weather in Alaska changes so often I feel the ship that was used should have had an enclosed deck or some sort of covering leading to the buffets. It was also very difficult to view any movies on board the upper deck since most of the time it was raining. Again an enclosed deck covering would've been ideal. Also I would have thought more salmon would be served at the buffets since I am on an Alaskan cruise. There was also a shortage of motor coaches to transport passengers to the airport after disembarking from the ship.

Land & Cruise trip with Princess & Crown Princess
July
Pros: Wonderfully efficient and helpful
Cons: Internet too expensive
Recommended: Yes
The land portion was extremely well done. We had a terrific land tour director, Leah Iverson, who was efficient, organizer, and on top of all facets of details, and fun as well. She made the days enjoyable by her help. Our cruise on board the Crown Princess was wonderful. Food was great, ports of call good, and the excursions we took well done and great memories. Overall, Princess did an outstanding job of making everything seamless in taking care of connections, ease of travel, and answering any and every question we had. Everything was, in our view, excellent. We will definitely use Princess again in our travels.

Good Cruise
June
Pros: Hospitality of staff, Excursions, Organization of Princess
Cons: Buffet, Not a lot of variety in activities, location of hotel in Anchorage
Recommended: Yes
The cruise was really great! I enjoyed the food at the Botticelli dining room; however we had an early dining which tended to get in the way of activities and therefore we did not use it but twice. The food at the buffet left a lot to be desired. The hospitality of the crew was superb. The ports were very much geared to the tourist stores which made it good for getting t-shirts for family, but that got old very quickly. We were really impressed with the excursions- whale watching in Juneau and hike and raft in Skagway. Princess did a great job of organizing and making sure that we got to our excursions as well as to the destinations at Denali and Anchorage. I was surpisingly impressed with the food at the ports- Harbor House in Skagway was the absolute best! Anchorage had things to do-outside the downtown area. So we were limited to what we could do there because we could not get out of downtown without spending a ton of money on a cab. I was disappointed in the location of the hotel in Anchorage, or at least the limited means of transportation there. Overall, I would recommend this cruise.

Pros: Cleanliness of hotels and ship. Staffers at the hotels and ship were very good.
Cons: Food at the hotels and on the ship was mediocre with the exception of Sabatinis which was excellent.

The cruise was very organized and well done. All land tours were well planned and fun. The Princess Hotels were immaculate and well staffed except for the Fairbanks Hotel. Their balcony was wonderful but not staffed. Also the food menus at the hotels were basically the same with the food being very average. The food aboard the ship was also very mediocre with the exception of Sabatinis which was excellent.

April
Pros: The amenities on the ship were awesome & we had a good sized balcony. Very nice!
Cons: We had better food on a cruise we took on another cruise line but over all, I have to say it was still a good time.
Recommended: Yes
The cruise was every bit as fun as my last cruise on another cruise line. I liked the other cruise line better than Princess but that's not to say that I didn't enjoy it! My husband & I went for our 30th anniversary & not only did we get a champagne brunch (huge) but we also got a special dessert at dinner! I really liked the fact that you could buy a drink card for soda once & you got free refills the remainder of the cruise. The ports were great & we had a lot of fun! We swam with dolphins in Puerto Vallarta. In Cabo, our excursion was cancelled due to weather but we had a great time shopping & eating while we were there, just the same. Highly recommended!!
