Review of The Mediterranean Odyssey Barcelona to Venice
September
Pros: Wonderful staff. Immaculate ship. Fabulous food. Very organized. Staff remembers your name and goes out of their way to please you.
Cons: Too many ports to visit with limited time. Monte Carlo should be overnight. Marseille could be dropped. Corfu could be dropped with an extra day in Venice.
Recommended: Yes
Viking is overall a wonderful cruise company. The Saturn is an ocean cruise with 930 passengers. The ship is beautiful and did not seem crowded. The staff is exemplary. Friendly, helpful, polite and happy. Having been in Europe several times, we opted not to go into port in Rome and Florence. Relaxing on the ship was the best. There was not enough time to enjoy either city after having to be bused in for 1.5 hours each way. The crew was terrific and always upbeat. All in all, we liked it as much as our 2 cruises on The Crystal Symphony and The Crystal Serenity in 2010 and 2013. We would recommend Viking wholeheartedly. We have not been on their river voyages but the ocean cruise is fabulous.
