San Juan, Puerto Rico, is an old city of cobblestone streets, colonial architecture and shaded courtyards. It reflects its Spanish past in such famous fortresses as El Morro and San Cristobal. San Juan is also a modern world capital -- a cosmopolitan metropolis of wide boulevards, lively cafes and highly regarded shops and galleries. San Juan is two unique destinations -- and you'll be fascinated by them both.
Considered by many Dominicans and visitors alike to be the prettiest part of the Dominican Republic, the Samana Peninsula is a naturalist's delight! Unspoiled white-sandy beaches, coconut-covered mountains, clear mountain streams winding through lush, tropical rain forests, vibrant coral reefs, internationally known whale-watching and many other attractions, a vacation of adventure is awaiting your discovery. From the twin capes of Rincon Bay in Las Galeras to Playa Bonita in Las Terrenas to Los Haitises National Park across the bay from Sanchez to Samaná in the heart of the peninsula, the sights and sounds of this tropical paradise will remain forever, haunting memories and tempting visitor time and time again to return."You may leave Samaná, but Samaná will never leave you".
Grand Turk is a small island located at the end of the Bahamas chain. It is about 7 miles long and 2 miles wide. The Island and beaches are absolutely stunning and the people some of the friendliest and helpful people you will ever meet. The Island is virtually crime free and totally safe to wander any time of the day or night. Grand Turk is not a 'glitzy' Island. The evening's entertainment is typically a good meal taken at some of the best restaurants you can find (such as Calico Jacks), friendly and cosy Pubs like 'Bonney & Reads', and frequent live local music in the Hotel gardens. There is a Disco on the Island and this is highly rated by visitors and locals alike. It is however situated away from the Hotels and does not spoil anyone's quiet enjoyment of the balmy Caribbean evenings.
As one of the most developed islands in the Turks & Caicos, Providenciales has myriad activities for lovers of leisure and beaches. The beaches of Providenciales are uniquely soft-sanded and white, because the island originated in coral rather than the atypical volcanic origin most islands have. Grace Bay Beach is world renown for being the most serene, perfect swim and lounge spot, and Chalk Sound National Park, composed of a shallow lagoon with rocky, green islets and aquamarine water, is considered best for kayaking. Some of the beaches on Providenciales, such as Turtle Tail, have such shallow water that one could easily walk to small islands just offshore. Kite-boarders flock to Long Bay Beach and the Bight Beach; go east for half of a mile from here to access the popular White House Reef snorkeling site. Other watersports activities are readily available, such as skiff boating, jet skiing, glass bottom boat tours and parasailing.
On land, catch pretty views and visit 18th-20th century rock carvings on Sapodilla Hill, or explore the West Harbour Bluff, finding a small isolated beach and remains of pirate carvnings. For a taste of the locally brewed beer (and the only brewery in Turks & Caicos), visit the Turks Head Microbrewery at Industrial Park. At Northwest Point, relax and explore for an afternoon of shell collecting. The island also features an 18-hole golf course, spas and many luxury shopping opportunities.
